Friends of Center for Children's Happiness (CCH) Helps Child Orphans in Cambodia out of Poverty

Center for Children's Happiness

Center for Children’s Happiness in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, currently cares for 140 children who would otherwise be abandoned to extreme poverty, abuse, lack of education, and various types of exploitation.

Mr. Mech Sokha, a Cambodian man in his mid-forties, who was himself orphaned during the Khmer Rouge genocide of the late 1970’s, founded CCH in October 2002. Ms. Osanai Mieko, President of Japan Team for Young Human Power (JHP), provided Sokha with educational opportunities and financial backing necessary to begin to realize his dream of rescuing children from dangerous and oppressive labor at the infamous Steung Meanchey dump just outside Phnom Penh.

International support for CCH continues to grow because visitors are deeply moved by the loving spirits and graciousness of the children at the Center. Visitors quickly see that CCH is more than an orphanage. It is a place of hope, aspiration, and kindness.
