Developing Voices at CCH

This issue will be devoted to the voices of CCH youth who have developed their English skills to a level where they can communicate effectively, and to those photo journalists who are increasing their skills in communicating through that visual medium. The voices here have been edited by me only a very very little. They come direct, so readers may have a new perspective and new voices about life at CCH. Enjoy.

Steung Meanchey Dump Closes

Yes, you read correctly. The large waste disposal dump just outside Phnom Penh, which was home and work at one time to nearly all CCH children, has closed. Another dump will open, further out of town, but according to reports, scavengers will not be allowed. This may not be especially good news, because the question remains---how will the people who worked there earn enough money to eat?

Please click here for a good BBC news feature on the dump closing. (Warning: You may have to view an advertisement first) The Sambath in this news story is different from the Sambath at CCH.
